Description
The continuous measurement of the density of liquids is very important, for example in the chemical, fuel, laboratory, beverage and food industries, since this parameter is used to determine the composition, concentration and quality of the liquid to be measured.
The oscillating U-tube method is now a recognized and common measuring method.
The liquid to be measured is set into vibration in a pipe that is bent several times, the actual frequency is measured and the density is thereby determined linearly.
A built-in temperature sensor measures the medium temperature and compensates the density to laboratory units (20/20°, 20/4°).
By simple parameterization it is possible to adapt the temperature compensation to all liquids (storage in non-volatile RAM).
A small computer continuously records all signals and calculates the true density and the derived parameters such as concentration or determines the relative density.
This value can be shown with the temperature in a data display (not included).
Every 3 to 5 seconds, a current measured value appears, which can be transmitted to evaluation devices via data interfaces. Thanks to the latest electronics, all common data interfaces such as RS232, RS485, Ethernet, CAN, USB as well as a 4...20mA signal can be used.
Time stamp of the density measured values via RTC (real-time clock) is possible.
It is suitable for field use, where checks must be carried out at a wide variety of measuring points, as well as in the laboratory as a robust density measuring device.
Since this type of construction is based on modular technology, sensors can be manufactured and supplied in different quality versions depending on the accuracy required. MFE MicroFlechs Electronic manufactures sensors with accuracies of: ± 0.01 to ± 0.0001 g/ccm in the temperature range from -20 to +50°C, although other ranges can be manufactured on request.
This unit can also be supplied as a complete device.
Mounting
The sensor is mounted using mounting clamps on a substructure that is as vibration- and shock-free as possible. The electrical connection to the measuring transducer must not exceed a cable length of 5 m (included in delivery).
To avoid the transmission of vibrations, the sensor should be connected to the pipe system using hose lines.
The flow direction and the installation position are unimportant for the function of the measuring device, but no gas bubbles or deposits must be able to form.
Evaluation electronics in Euro card format, in plug-in technology.
